As a mom who is currently pregnant with baby number two, let me tell you—finding time for a truly restorative, child-free weekend feels about as rare as a solar eclipse. So when one of our dearest friends invited us to their wedding in Montreal, we didn’t hesitate. We booked the flights, secured grandma for toddler duty, and decided to turn the trip into something special: a much-needed mini babymoon before our lives get beautifully chaotic again.
Montreal has always been one of our favorites and we’ve visited separately, but never together. It’s a city known for its European charm, incredible food, and vibrant culture, making it the perfect place to relax, explore, and reconnect. And when we discovered the Four Seasons Montreal, it felt like fate. I wanted comfort, luxury, and plenty of space to put my feet up—my husband wanted somewhere memorable, with great food and access to the city. The Four Seasons delivered on every front.
Why We Were in Montreal
This wasn’t just any random trip—it was a weekend with meaning. We were in town to celebrate the wedding of one of our closest friends, which already added so much joy and purpose to the getaway. Weddings always feel special, but attending one while carrying new life inside me made it even more tender. It was a beautiful reminder of love and partnership—perfect timing for us as we prepare to welcome our second child.
With the wedding events planned over a few days, we had enough flexibility to turn it into a personal escape, too. It became the ideal blend of celebration and serenity—a romantic getaway and meaningful gathering rolled into one.
Where We Stayed: The Four Seasons Montreal
From the moment we stepped through the doors of the Four Seasons Montreal, we were swept into an experience that felt elevated and intentional. The hotel is stunning—modern, sleek, and stylish without feeling sterile. Everything about the space felt designed to soothe and indulge, from the curated scent in the lobby to the soft lighting and polished finishes. The Four Seasons Montreal opened in 2019 in the heart of the city’s Golden Square Mile and has quickly become a standout destination, not just for its design but for the way it seamlessly blends luxury with warmth. Connected directly to Holt Renfrew Ogilvy, it offers a uniquely convenient and chic experience for guests who love a little fashion with their stay.
The service? Impeccable. The front desk team greeted us warmly, already aware of my pregnancy, and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. It’s the kind of hospitality that doesn’t just meet your expectations—it exceeds them quietly, with no fanfare, just thoughtful touches throughout your stay. Reviews echo our experience, with travelers consistently praising the serene ambiance, floor-to-ceiling views, and standout dining.
The Room: Spacious, Serene, and Mama-Approved

We stayed in one of the luxe suites, and honestly? I wanted to move in. The room was filled with natural light thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows, and the view of Montreal made the space feel expansive and alive. The modern design was softened with cozy textures and neutral tones—minimalist without being cold. (Pops of pink felt appropriate for the second baby girl on her way!) There was a plush sitting area perfect for my sacred cup of morning coffee or putting my feet up after long walks around the city, and the bathroom was its own kind of sanctuary with a deep soaking tub and rainfall shower. (I’m not a big bath person—but my husband thoroughly enjoyed a few dips.)
The most thoughtful touch was the pregnancy/body pillow that had been placed in the room before we arrived. I could have cried happy tears. Traveling while pregnant can be hard, especially when the comforts of home aren’t carry-on friendly, and that small but incredibly sweet addition made me feel seen and cared for in a way that few hotels ever do.
The Dining Experience: Delicious Moments at Marcus
One of the major highlights of our stay was dinner at Marcus, the hotel’s signature restaurant helmed by celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson. The space itself is stunning—sophisticated and lively, filled with locals and travelers alike. It’s definitely the place to be on a Friday or Saturday night in Montreal—and since my husband and I haven’t been out past 9 p.m. in a very long time, it brought us back to our newly-dating days.
We opted for the prix fixe tasting menu, and every course was a work of art. We began with a crisp potato pancake topped with caviar, the perfect balance of salty and rich, followed by melt-in-your-mouth burrata paired with vibrant local vegetables. The lobster pasta came next—decadent and buttery without being too heavy—before moving into perfectly cooked mains like seared halibut with citrus beurre blanc and succulent tiger shrimp that tasted like they were pulled straight from the ocean. Each dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully paced, creating a dining experience that felt both indulgent and intimate.

Even the mocktails were impressive. As someone who’s not drinking right now, I really appreciated that the bar team took their time to craft something special—not just juice with a garnish. The vibe was upbeat and celebratory, though I will say that the restaurant becomes quite the scene at night—which is fun, but can get loud. Just something to keep in mind if you’re hoping for a quieter dining experience.
We also enjoyed the hotel’s daily breakfast/brunch, which was both delicious and scenic. Sipping coffee while watching the city wake up, enjoying freshly baked pastries and made-to-order omelets—it was the peaceful start to the day I didn’t know I needed.

The City Experience: Montreal’s Charm, Culture, and Cravings
We didn’t spend the entire weekend inside (even though the suite made it tempting!). Montreal is incredibly walkable and filled with personality around every corner. One morning, we ventured to St-Viateur Bagel, where I happily devoured a hot-from-the-oven sesame bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon. Another afternoon, we made our way to Schwartz’s Deli for their iconic smoked meat sandwich. (Yes, I brought the TUMS—no regrets.)
We strolled through the Old Port, hand in hand, soaking up the cobblestone streets, local boutiques, and waterfront views. The city truly feels like a mix of North America and Europe, with so much history, art, and life. On our last night, we had dinner at Joe Beef—a spot we’ve been dying to go for a while. The vibe was cool and intimate, and the food was next-level. Every bite was rich, thoughtful, and indulgent. It was the kind of meal you savor slowly, not wanting the night to end.

Overall Takeaway: A Perfect Babymoon, a Perfect Weekend
Looking back, I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend escape. The Four Seasons Montreal delivered everything we needed: comfort, calm, incredible food, and a sense of being truly taken care of. I felt pampered, rested, and reconnected with my husband in a way that’s hard to do in the midst of daily life with a toddler and a growing belly.
Whether you’re pregnant, traveling kid-free, or just looking for a special place to stay in Montreal, the Four Seasons is the kind of hotel that turns a trip into an experience. I’ll be dreaming about that suite, those city views, and the peaceful breakfasts long after the sleepless newborn nights arrive.
